Who Am I, and Why Did I Create Fitness with Baby?

I’m Krystal Schouten, your Pelvic Floor Fitness Specialist and founder of Fitness Reset in Brantford and for over 10 years I’ve helped postpartum women rebuild their core strength, support their pelvic floor, and step back into movement feeling strong and capable.

I work alongside pelvic floor physiotherapists and have been a guest speaker at dozens of women’s health events across Brantford and surrounding communities. I’m also the host of Potty Talk — a podcast where we break the stigma around postpartum recovery and pelvic floor health.

As a certified prenatal, postpartum and pelvic‑floor fitness specialist I’ve helped hundreds of moms regain strength, confidence and joy. I know how overwhelming motherhood can be—that’s why I create a safe space where you can move, breathe and connect without judgement. My mission is to help you feel strong in your body and supported in your heart. This is where you train with intention. This is where you build confidence. This is where you become strong as a mother.

  • Most moms begin between 6–8 weeks postpartum, depending on their birth experience and recovery. Everybody is different, so I always encourage you to listen to your body and follow your healthcare provider’s recommendations.

    I also highly recommend booking an appointment with a pelvic floor physiotherapist around 6 weeks postpartum before returning to exercise. A proper assessment can give you clarity and confidence as you rebuild strength.

    I personally recommend Essential Physiotherapy on Brant Ave in Brantford. They provide thorough pelvic floor assessments and can guide your recovery.

    And don’t worry — I’m here to support you. If your pelvic floor physiotherapist gives specific recommendations or modifications, I will help you integrate them safely into class.

  • You are absolutely welcome here.

    Many of the moms in Fitness with Baby are recovering from a C-section. We focus on rebuilding strength gradually — starting with core connection, breathwork, and proper pressure management before progressing intensity.

    Between 8 -12 weeks postpartum (with clearance from your healthcare provider), you can begin returning to exercise — but recovery after a C-section is not just about the incision. It’s about restoring deep core strength, mobility, and confidence in your body again.

    In class, you’ll receive:

    • Modifications to protect your incision site

    • Core and pelvic floor integration

    • Gradual strength progression

    • Guidance on what to avoid early on

    There is no pressure to “bounce back.”
    We rebuild properly — so you can feel strong long term.

    There is no deadline for rebuilding your strength.

    From there, Fitness with Baby is designed to meet you exactly where you are. Every class includes modifications and progressions so you can rebuild safely and confidently — no matter how long it’s been.

    It’s never too late to reconnect with your core, rebuild strength, and feel strong in your body again.
